Flowering Ground Cover
Flowering ground covers are a lovely addition to any garden. A flowering groundcover will add color to a large area of a garden, and are usually easy to care for. Flowering ground covers will look great in area that grass is unable to grow, or is not desired. A flowering groundcover allowed to cover a steep incline will add color to the hill as well as help prevent soil erosion.

One beautiful flowering ground cover is the barren strawberry. This flowering groundcover grows in full sun to part shade and prefers consistently moist soil. The foliage is evergreen and dense. The blooms of this flowering ground cover are yellow and appear in the spring. In autumn, this flowering ground cover also shows warm, yellow color.

Another lovely flowering ground cover is the Lamium ‘Pink Pewter.’ This flowering ground cover has dark green silvery leaves with a white center. The blooms are salmon pink, and shoot up on short spikes from the plant. This flowering ground cover will grow best in full sun, but will tolerate some shade if the soil is left moist.

A third flowering ground cover is the periwinkle. This flowering ground cover features evergreen leaves and tubular lavender blue flowers that appear in the spring and will continue to bloom until fall. This flowering ground cover is easy to grow in average, dry to medium wet soil that is well drained. The foliage of this flowering ground cover will mound up to six inches tall, making this a rather low ground cover.
