Ground
cover plants propagate using several different methods. Some
of them will spread by creating underground root structures
that sprout up in new locations. Other ground cover plants
will have surface runners, which move along a surface and
sprout new roots. Some ground cover plants may need to be
propagated by division of larger plants into several smaller
plants and replanted.
Nearly
all ground cover plants are perennial and will return year
after year with the proper care given during the growing season.
Each groundcover plant has different need as far as sunlight
and watering go. Some groundcover plants need fertilizer,
while other may be hindered by its use. It is important to
know which ground cover is being used and what it needs to
thrive.
